Four valve AC radio for medium and
long wave reception
Cabinet made of Slavonian oak, metal chassis
underneath. The receiver was introduced in 1930, together with
the Philips models 2531 and 2534. The Philips sets sold well.
This set did not sell very well. About 3000 Hilversum 3 radios
were made.
This radio was first sold through the
Philips sales network.
In the summer of 1930, the sales departments of Philips
Eindhoven and NSF Hilversum were merged.This led to the dismissal of 65
NSF office workers.
Control panel from left to right: volume control, primary tuning, secondary tuning,
feedback. The wavelength switch is situated on the right hand
side of the receiver and is operated by a key that can also be
used to switch the set off.
