Superheterodyne portable battery radio
With gray plastic cabinet, white station scale with black lettering, orange pointer and the Braun logo in orange. It has a brown leather carrying belt. The two white thumb wheels on top are for volume and tone control; the orange knob on the right is used for tuning. It has the same colour as the pointer. Four push-buttons in the middle are used to switch the radio on and off and to change the wave lengths. A connection for an external antenna is situated on the right, a timer and a gramophone can be connected at the left hand side. The design is by Dieter Rams.
The receiver has seven transitors and a ferroceptor that is used on all wave lengths. The intermediate frequency is 455 kHz, band width is 2 kHz. Permanent-dynamic loudspeaker (dimension 105 x 180 mm), 8000 Gauss, DC resistance 150 Ohm, output power 800 mA.
The radio receives medium wave (185-582 meters), long wave (856-2067 meters) and short wave (19-51 meters).
